-threatening injuries and have been transported to area hospitals. firefighters and rescuers are using ladders. the maryland state police tell us adults and children were onboard, and we believe there are 12 patients. it's unclear if the bus landed on other cars when it fell or -- they do know the ntsb is head together scene to investigate the cause of this crash. denise? >> wjz has complete coverage of the bus accident. captain mike perry, you have a good view. tell us what you know. >> reporter: we see at least a dozen pieces of fire apparatus still on the scene. you see that in the foreground. they will be using that to lift that bus over the jersey barrier and back onto the highway once they clear the scene. at this point if the ntsb is involved, i have not heard that they're on the scene and we have not seen them at the moment. the maryland state police still being the lead investigator. because this is a tour bus possibly from another state, there is a strong possibility the ntsb could be involved because it's commercial transportation. just the gridlock roads is the main thing. the scen

. most of the windows were bashed out. firefighters had to use ladders to rescue the people inside. at this point the cause of the accident is not clear. we're here gathering information. back to you. >> thank you. wjz has complete coverage of the crash. we saw the backup the accident is causing. >>> this is going to be an ongoing issue, not only because of the ramp and the damage to the ramp, they'll have to remove the bus. once they take care of the injured people, there's a live look at the scene. the accident is on the 270 spur at the i-0 merge in the northbound direction at the merge. the northbound spur is closed to all traffic. all traffic must exit pat democracy. all traffic must take the inner loop of the beltway. this is obviously cause lag lot of confusion and a lot of traffic hasn't had a place to go. there's a large triage area that's set up. this will be there for quite sometime, so if you know anybody headed in that direction, turn around. it's an area to be avoid right now. it will be there for sometime. we'll have another update in 15 minutes. >>> our other big sto

. this has the makings of a major flood event over much of the northeastern part of the u.s. and including the mid atlantic. >> it started in parts of south florida earlier in the day, making everyday chores and the commute miserable. crews spent the morning filling sandbags and heavy rain pulled on streets and created problems for this car, which ended up in a ditch. for others along the eastern seaboard, it was a day to prepare for nicole's arrival. >> we have not had a major storm in north myrtle beach in over 10 years. >> the mayor warned that there could be some low-lying flooding and rip currents, but did not expect a call to deliver much more. >> we are not recommending any one board up. the sustained winds are supposed to get no more than 45 miles an hour, so we feel like we are in good shape. >> nicole's path is similar to two other previous storms, hurricane floyd in 1999, and guinness in 2005. low-cost significant flooding and damage in florida and parts of the northeast. now that nicole is getting ready to leave her mark, the question is how much damage will she leave behind? >
